Its yet another head on clash this weekend between two arch rivals India & Pakistan in the Champions trophy. No doubt... its always one of the most awaited matches in the sub-continent...!!

The heat is on and both the teams will be giving a tough fight...!

The Pakistan Perspective: A truly competitive side ranking 4th in the ICC teams ranking. Not in a good form though but has a lot of potential. In fact, the last match against West Indies was made complicated with the strewn performance of the team. A low scoring match that was equally made tougher especially by the Pakistani players..! Unlike match one, Captain Younis Khan is now fit to take up the captaincy once again and is very keen about this encounter. With Afridi and Malik in form, the budding Umar Akmal is an added strength to the team. On the whole a precise package, eying the mini World Cup...!! The Indian Perspective: Mr. Cool leading the in form team who is now ruling the ICC ranking at spot # 1. Unfortunately... Yuvi is ruled out of the entire series which adds to the problem caused by Sehwag's absence. But overall the team looks in good shape and has been doing well over the recent past. The victory in the Compaq Cup has lifted the spirits even further. Of late... both our vetrans i.e. Master Blaster and the Great Wall have shown good form adding power with experience in the team. The bet: My bet is definitely on India. Moreover I see a 70-30 chance for India to even get hold of the Mini World Cup...!!

The instant messaging revolution - a boon or a curse for organisations?

Instant Messaging has become the call of the day. Be it interaction with your peers at office or be it interacting live with your customers/prospects across the globe... IM is the coolest, smoothest and cheapest solution today!

What's the definition of "Instant Messaging"?

"Instant messaging, often shortened to simply "IM" or "IMing," is the exchange of text messages through a a software application in real-time. Generally included in the IM software is the ability to easily see whether a chosen friend, co-worker or "buddy" is online and connected through the selected service. Instant messaging differs from ordinary e-mail in the immediacy of the message exchange and also makes a continued exchange simpler than sending e-mail back and forth. Its a revolution which has made the world even smaller. If you are comfortable typing, simple text chat can be your means of communication. If you are not so comfortable typing, you may opt for voice chat. And if you are tooooo keen on seeing & talking... then definitely video chat!

Some people chat visibly... some choose to remain invisible! Infact invisible chat can be termed as a veil that lets you see the world but not the world see you..! Good concept! Ray Tomlinson(i), the inventor of "email" in 1971, would be proud to see his invention grow to this level! ICQ introduced the concept of instant messaging in 1996 which was taken forward by AOL in 1997 with the AOL instant messenger.

Real-time communication system - IM has made communication especially across geographies so easy that one has over come the challenge of travelling or waiting for a response. Telephones do support in the same manner but text, graphics and file interchange with voice /visual interchange has added to the ease of communication enormously.

But somehow, overdose of anything can be injurious. Many organisations today feel that employees spend a considerable amount of time in non-constructive chat and hence have started blocking all forms of instant messaging. On one hand, employers are trying to channelise their resources for better output on the other hand, blocking of instant messaging can hamper the growth of the organisations. Hence, we need to find better ways of tackling this problem...!

Lets brainstorm on how to keep a check on instant messaging so that it is a win win situation for any organisation and any employee...!!

Human Evolution - which way are we headed to?

With "Internet" turning 40 today (TOI), which way is the IT-Savy human race heading to? This is quite debatable ...!

On one hand wider knowledge is available at hand's reach whereas on the other hand the thirst for knowledge is making us addicted to the computers, precisely Internet!!

I can hardly imagine my day to day life without having access to the net even for a single day! Be it work or leisure, I ought to be connected else I feel a mere caged bird...!! Funny but true! This is not a case with me but even most of my friends...

I guess we need to wake up to educate our peers and the future generation on not getting "addicted" to the Internet. We need to realise and make others realise that Internet needs to be used as an enabler instead of making a mandatory element of our day to day life.

I can never even imagine of opposing the use internet but I do realise that I should curfew my venture on the Internet... a step down from addiction to optimum utilisation...!!

I would like to know my readers' views if this realisation is application to "you" as well...??
